MPD Officer Greg Brown and K-9 "Juice"

The Murfreesboro Police Department added a new officer this week after K-9 “Juice” and Officer Greg Brown graduated from the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department’s training program.

The six-month long, United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) approved training, certified Brown and “Juice” in missing person tracking, felony apprehension, evidence location, handler protection, and building searches.

“Juice”, a two-year-old German shepherd replaces retired K-9 “Murph.”

Brown has been a K-9 handler for five years and a police officer for a total of nine years with MPD.

MPD also announced the promotion of another officer.

Officer Mark Wood was promoted Tuesday to sergeant in the patrol division.

Wood joined the Department in 2002 and was selected for the special operations unit in 2006.

He also served as a field training officer and has received numerous commendation letters throughout his career.
