The Murfreesboro Police Department comes hat in hand to the city council meeting Thursday night, asking for a new police car.

MPD wants to replace a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria, which was totaled in a Jan. 14 crash involving an officer. Officer Matthew Garrett was driving his patrol car on Northwest Broad Street when the Jeep turned into his path and the patrol car T-boned the jeep.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol ruled the crash was not the officer's fault and MPD expects the other driver's insurance to reimburase the cost of replacing the patrol car.

To buy a 2010 Crown Vic with sirens and lights, the police department is requesting more than $22,500. The money will come from the city’s Risk Management Fund, wich is used as a self-insurance fund.

Council will also schedule public hearings to:
• Consider Zoning Ordinance Amendments to Sections 7, 18, & 27 regarding Site Plan Review Enhancements;
• Consider Amendments to Zoning Ordinance and Murfreesboro City Code Sections 28 & 29 to implement Subdivision Regulations and Standard Street Specifications;
• Consider for passage on first reading ORDINANCE 10-O-04 amending Murfreesboro City Code Appendix A-Zoning, Sections 2, 5, 7, 13, 19, 24, and 29, pertaining to subdivision regulations and street design specifications.
• Consider for passage on first reading ORDINANCE 10-O-05 amending the Murfreesboro City Code, Chapter 28-Streets and Sidewalks, Sections 28-1, 28-8, 28-11, 28-31, 28-32, 28-33, 28-41, 28-45, and 28-46 dealing with subdivision regulations and street design specifications.
• Consider for passage on first reading ORDINANCE 10-O-06 amending the Murfreesboro City Code, Chapter 29-Subdivisions, Maps and Plats, Sections 29-1, 29-2, 29-3, 29-4, 29-6, 29-7, 29-8, 29-9, 29-10, 29-12, 29-13, 29-14, 29-15, 29-16, 29-17 and 29-18, dealing with subdivision regulations and street design specifications.
