Murfreesboro Police think a drive-by shooting May 2 at 1322 Eagle Street could be tied to gang activity.

Murfreesboro Police Officer Timothy Meeks was called to Eagle Street after Kathy Lawrence called in that a man named Chris and two passengers in a white Crown Victoria shot in the direction of 1322 Eagle Street.

There was return fire from the yard of the house.

The Eagle Street house is a known hangout for the Crips.

From the tracks MPD Detective Chris Ashley found in the yard, the person who returned fire ran toward the car before turning around and leaving on a bicycle.

After police had left the scene, Lawrence called Meeks again to say that Chris’s car was at Rolling Acres Apartments.

Correction: The Post mistakenly reported the witness was a former girlfriend of the suspect. The two only went to high school together. We regret this error.
