Officers stopped a vehicle at the Shell Station on N.W. Broad Street near Thompson Lane for a registration violation Wednesday, June 9.

The passenger of the vehicle, Jerry Sanders, was asked for consent to search the vehicle but told officers he needed to contact his lawyer.

A probable cause search was conducted after a K-9 unit gave a positive response to a free-air sniff around the vehicle.

Police discovered a plastic bag containing one set of digital scales and four bricks of marijuana weighing approximately 9.25 pounds.

Both passenger Jerry Sanders and the driver Carolyn Sanders were placed under arrest on suspicion of felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
