A mother was arrested for aggravated child abuse at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 after her child was run over by a car near their home on Riviera Drive.

Lacey Howington was not supervising her son, 3-year-old Keenius Thomas, when he was playing outside.

He was across the street on  Pecan Court. when a woman backed over him with her car.

The woman who backed over the child reportedly knocked on Howington's door for approximately five minutes before Howington answered.

When the Murfreesboro Police arrived on the scene, they discovered that Howington had been smoking marijuana in her bedroom.

There was a "strong odor" of burnt marijuana outside the front door of Howington's home. She was given a drug test when she arrived at the Murfreesboro Police Department and it showed positive for marijuana.
