From the National Weather Service’s Nashville office:
Another round of heavy rain is expected to move through the area Tuesday bringing one inch to two inches of rain to most areas.
This is in addition to widespread rainfall amounts of one inch to locally three inches that fell across Middle Tennessee Sunday night.
The expected rainfall, on top of the already moist ground, will run off very quickly into area creeks and streams especially in the Duck, Elk and Buffalo river basins.
Around an inch of rain is possible in the Nashville area and elsewhere widespread flooding is not anticipated with the storms on Tuesday.
However intense rainfall rates and persistent rainfall will be enough to cause smaller creeks and streams to rise, some very quickly. Also monitor low-lying and poor-draining areas for standing water. |
