| From the National Weather Service:
The National Weather Service is calling for light snow possibly mixing with sleet late tonight and early Friday morning in Middle Tennessee.
An arctic airmass will remain in place through Friday as a Gulf low develops and spreads a band of wintry precipitation northward into Middle Tennessee late tonight and early Friday.
Far southern Middle Tennessee, including the cities of Waynesboro, Lawrenceburg and Pulaski, will get a mix of light snow and sleet beginning before daybreak with up to one-half inch of snow and sleet accumulation possible before changing to rain around 9 a.m.
A mix of light snow and sleet will continue spreading northward across the remainder of Middle Tennessee after daybreak before changing to rain around 10 a.m.
Temperatures late tonight will range from mid-20s in the north to near 30 in the south. Highs on Friday will range from the mid-30s to upper 30s in northern Middle Tennessee to near 40 in the south.
Motorists traveling in the mid-state late tonight and early Friday are urged to use caution as road surfaces will be below freezing temperatures and the precipitation that falls will stick causing slick roadways.
Another round of snowfall Friday night is expected as an upper-level impulse moves across the area.
Snowfall accumulations of an inch are possible area wide with up to 2 inches along the Plateau and the Highland Rim.
After the passage of an arctic front Monday much colder conditions will spread across the mid-state. For Tuesday through Thursday expect very cold temperatures and scattered snow showers. |
