Calling all bargain shoppers: Essex is relocating to a larger location in Murfreesboro.

Five years ago, the surplus outlet superstore made its home in the Big Lots shopping center on Northwest Broad Street, but it has since outgrown the space, according to Peter Adams, vice president of retail operations for Essex.

“We’ve been looking for a larger space in Murfreesboro and were finally able to get something worked out,” he said.

Essex will relocate next to Roses in the shopping center on Mercury Boulevard by mid-November, if all goes as planned, Adams continued.

The new space is nearly five times the size of Essex’s current location, which will provide more options for shoppers.

“This will allow us to offer the full complement of merchandise that we’re able to have in our other stores,” Adams said. “Right now, when we get a deal on furniture or oriental rugs or high-end lawn equipment – anything that’s really big – we can’t send it to Murfreesboro because there’s no room.”

Additionally, the new store will feature the company’s new logo: Essex Bargain Hunt. For details or to sign up for updates, visit bargainhunt.com.

The Kelton Family has planned its inaugural Fall Family Fest to thank the community for its continued support.

From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 5, the free event will be held at Kelton’s Hardware and Pet, located at 2870 Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro.

Those who attend and register on-site will receive one professional family photo from Kristin Leisman Photography, according to a news release. Additional freebies include hot dogs, coke, pet product samples, face painting, balloons and access to the free dog wash.

Additionally, NutriSource and PureVita, both providers of oganic pet foods, will be handing out free samples.

“We will be transforming our store to a colorful Fall Festival atmosphere with lots of hay bales and pumpkins,” owner Jason Kelton said.

“We can’t wait to show our appreciation to our customers that have made our move from the downtown square to Old Fort Parkway such a success just four years ago. It’s going to be a great day with lots of free stuff, super sales and fun for the entire family.”

Kelton’s Hardware and Pet is a “Do It Best” store and is known for its wide variety of products and services, the news release continues. Therefore, several “super sales” will be provided for customers at the Fall Family Fest, including 29 percent off whatever fits inside a 5-gallon bucket, $5 dog nail clipping and special sales on paint, storage solutions and outdoor power equipment.

“We’re going all out to make this a fantastic event for everyone – especially those looking for great deals on items such as Valspar paint and whatever they can fit into a 5 gallon bucket,” said John Klembecki, Keltons store manager.
