|Josh and Amanda Davis, proud owners of the Historic McKnight House, are excited to bring something new to Auburntown.
Imagine sitting on your favorite blanket watching a classic movie. Now imagine looking up and realizing you’re under the stars.
There no need to imagine anymore.
Beginning this month, and continuing on the second Saturday of the month through October, the lawn of the McKnight House will turn into a movie theater filled with classic, family friendly, Hollywood movies.
“We really wanted to create something fun and memorable for families to do that is affordable. Families can come enjoy the lawn of the mansion, have some great food, and enjoy the night,” Josh Davis said.
The public is invited to bring their favorite blanket or lawn chair and enjoy free classic movies.”
On Saturday, July 14, the double feature will be “The Wizard of Oz” and “Fried Green Tomatoes. “
In August, the movies will be “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” and “Grease.”
The offerings in September are Southern classics “Steel Magnolias” and “Gone With the Wind.”
The final double feature of the season will be Saturday, Oct. 13, with sci-fi classics “E.T.” and “Star Wars.”
Just Imagine That Catering & Events, the Davis’ catering business, will be running the concession stand, supplying attendees with burgers, hot dogs, popcorn, and all your movie munchies.
Every night will be a double feature, come for one, or stay for both.
The Historic McKnight House will also show a double feature at the conclusion of Red Apple Days on the mansion lawn.
The Davis’ are thrilled about beginning Movies at the Mansion and hope that with this year’s success they can make it an annual event. Contact the mansion at historicmcknighthouse.com for more information.
