Middle's Lymon on 'Making the Buzz List'

Chelsia Lymon
Middle Tennessee senior Chelsia Lymon was one of 12 women's basketball standouts nationally on the initial 2010 Players Making the Buzz list for The Nancy Lieberman Award. The annual award recognizes the nation's top point guard in Division I women's basketball and is sponsored by the Detroit Rotary Club.

The criteria for the award are the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills that personified Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman during her career. Sportswriters from across the country determine the award winner and finalists, whom will be announced in April.

Lymon, the Blue Raiders' primary point guard the last three seasons, is averaging 8.4 ppg in 31.8 minutes per game this season in leading the squad to four-straight wins. She paces the squad with 34 assists and is second with 35 steals and 16 free throws made.

Entering this week's action, the Georgetown, Ky., product has 877 career points, needing just 123 to become the 23rd member of the Middle Tennessee 1,000-point club.

Lymon has played her best against her home state foes, hauling in a career-best tying eight rebounds in the win over Kentucky in addition to handing out a season-high seven assists and swiping a career-best eight steals in the victory at defending national runner-up Louisville.

She will join the rest of her Blue Raider teammates for a pair of games in Arkansas this week, beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Jonesboro, Ark., against Arkansas State.
