Two middle school All-Star basketball games are scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the home of the Red Hawks at La Vergne Middle School.
The fun will begin with a co-ed 3-point shooting contest and obstacle course competition.
The girl’s game will begin at 6 p.m. with a step team and dance team performance at the half. After the girls game, the goals will be lowered and there will be a co-ed dunk contest.
The boy’s game will follow.
The games are for eighth graders only and the following schools have signed up: Blackman, Central, Eagleville, La Vergne, Oakland, Rock Springs, Rockvale, Smyrna, Stewarts Creek, Thurman Francis and Whitworth-Buchanan.
The Home Girls team will be coached by regular season and tournament champion Terry Patient of Rock Springs and the roster will consist of Tyra Hughes, Kesha Brady, Brandi Ferby and Brianah Ferby of Rock Springs; Taylor Vaughn, Elexis Walls, Jackie Powlis and Daija Boyd of Oakland; Kayla Head and Kyla Dowlen of Thurman Francis; Mallory Mosier and Tori Laidig of Eagleville; and Addie Baird and Hope Hinson of Whitworth-Buchanan.
The Visiting Girls team will be coached by regular season and tournament runner up Theo Hatchett of Blackman and will consist of Bria Dial and Taylor Freeman of Blackman; Candace Gaines, Halie Shults and Caitlyn Moore of Smyrna; Lexus Story and Emily Domer of Rockvale; Sha Roberts, Jamelia Green and Brandi Davis of La Vergne; and Lauren Gattie and Sydeny Smith of Central.
Another player from Blackman will be named later.
The Home Boys team will be coached by regular season champion Coach Brad Decker of Oakland and will consist of Omar Lyons, Devonte Harris and Cody Miller of Oakland; Cooper Baughn and Nathan Nelson of Central; Bryce Williams, Maliek Gray and Vincent Helms of La Vergne; and Myles Kumrow, Cade Mills and Lawrence Segree of Thurman Francis.
The Visiting Boys team will be coached by Brian Turner of Stewarts Creek and will consist of David Ivy, Anthony Ochoa and Jaellan White of Blackman; Desmond Sales and Kristian Mtetwa of Stewarts Creek; Vonye Martin and David Heath of Rockvale; and Percy Whitaker, Princeton Fant, Joseph Sewell and Erik Hawks of Eagleville.
