Illegal methamphetamine was discovered when sheriff’s detectives searched for stolen antiques Thursday inside a Rockvale home.

Detectives served a search warrant at Gary Eubanks’ home on Rockvale Road where they found numerous pieces of antique furniture, glassware and other items, said Detective Ralph Mayercik. The property was believed stolen since August in the burglaries of several unoccupied homes.

Once the detectives found the methamphetamine, they quarantined the rented house until a professional company cleaned it.

Detectives took photographs of the antiques, some of which has not been reported stolen.

Citizens who may be missing antique items but have not made a report may contact Mayercik at 904-3044, Detective Randy Groce at 904-3049 or Detective Scott Tillman at 904-3041 to determine if they own the recovered property.

Mayercik charged resident Gary Eubanks, 39, of Rockvale Road with two counts of theft. His girlfriend, Brandy Henry, 31, of the same address, was charged with two counts of theft. His brother, Daniel, was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft.

Narcotics Detective Sedric Fields said he verified the substance found by detectives was about one gram of methamphetamine valued at $100. He found materials used to make methamphetamine in the garage of the rented home.

“There wasn’t an active cook going on at the time,” Fields said.

Fields charged Gary Eubanks with promotion of methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling for making methamphetamine. He charged Henry with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All three suspects were being held at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Hearings were pending in General Sessions Court.

Conflicting headline and first sentence of story. Which were the officers searching for...the meth or the antiques? It can't be both ways!

Good point. Based on the story itself, I got the impression that while searching for stolen property, they noticed the meth.
