Junior Victor Melo has been named Sun Belt Player of the Week after an impressive performance for the Blue Raiders over the weekend as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Melo posted a 2-0 record in singles and doubles in the Blue Raiders' two matches and his victory against DePaul sealed the team's win.
Melo paired with sophomore Michael Langley to defeat DePaul's Alasdair Graetz and Douglas Perrin to give Middle Tennessee a 1-0 lead in the match.
Melo's 6-4, 6-5 win over Matija Palinic handed Middle Tennessee its first win of the 2010 season, a 5-2 victory over DePaul. To begin the weekend, Melo won both his singles and doubles matches in a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to No. 38 Northwestern.
The Blue Raiders will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 19 when they play at South Florida. |
