Murfreesboro City Schools have announced two new principals for Erma Siegel Elementary and Cason Lane Academy.
The first, Emily Spencer, will replace current Siegel Elementary Principal Barbara Tuckson, who is retiring this month. Spencer has served as a classroom teacher, inner-city coordinator, assistant principal and principal of Lockeland Design Center Elementary for Metro Nashville Public Schools.
She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and received a Master of Education in Supervision and Administration from Tennessee State University. Spencer attended the Principals’ Leadership Academy at Vanderbilt University in May 2007, as well.
“We are delighted to welcome Emily Spencer to Murfreesboro City Schools … She is known for her collaborative approach to leadership and she shares the vision that we have for our schools — exemplary learning environments that are built on truth, trust, open communication and a focus first on children. We look forward to working with Ms. Spencer as she builds on the legacy that Barbara Tuckson has left the boys and girls of Siegel Elementary School,” Director of Schools Dr. Linda Gilbert said.
Also filling the role, Lee Wilkerson will become Principal of Cason Lane Academy effective July 16, 2010. Wilkerson has been with Murfreesboro City Schools since Aug. 2006 as the Human Resources Director. Prior to joining the system, he was a teacher, coach and assistant principal at Rockwood High School and a principal at Ridge View Elementary in Rockwood, Tennessee.
Wilkerson earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Master of Education in Administration and Supervision and Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technological University.
“Over the past four years, Mr. Wilkerson has proven himself to be an invaluable resource to Murfreesboro City Schools. [He] had a stellar record while a principal and assistant principal in East Tennessee, so I am very pleased that he has chosen to work with the Cason Lane family. The most valuable characteristic that Lee Wilkerson brings to the table is his heart for children,” Gilbert added. |
