MCS faculty awarded for work toward healthier students | MCS, Andrea Cain, Scales Elementary, Catherine Stephens

Scales Principal Catherine Stephens and Supervisor of Coordinated School Health Andrea Cain were recognized for their work by the by Tennessee Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.
Murfreesboro City Schools’ Supervisor of Coordinated School Health Andrea Cain and Scales’ Principal Catherine Stephens were recognized Health Professional of the Year and Elementary Administrator of the Year by Tennessee Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance at their annual awards presentation.

Cain was acknowledged for bringing content knowledge, awareness of policies and practices and wisdom on how to accomplish goals. She was cited as a person who has dedicated her life to the future of the state of Tennessee by striving to make children healthier.

Stephens’ recognition centered on the fact that health and physical activities are priorities for both her students and staff at Scales Elementary. Additionally, she serves as the Coordinated School Health Liaison for her school and is the only principal that chose to take on those extra duties.

Erma Siegel Elementary and Cason Lane Academy were recognized for their major contributions to the annual Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser.
