McCoy to play in Saturday's East-West Game

Chris McCoy, the 2009 Sun Belt Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year, has been invited to play in the 2010 East-West Shrine Game on January 23. The game will be played at the Florida Citrus Bowl and will kick off at 2 PM CST on ESPN2.

McCoy is just the third player in school history to be invited to the game, joining Walter Dunson (RB) in 1992 and Dwone Hicks (RB) in 2003. Hicks did not play in the game due to an injury.

McCoy registered 64 tackles to go with 20 tackles for loss and seven sacks in helping lead the Blue Raiders to a 10-3 record and a victory in the New Orleans Bowl. The Villa Rica, Ga., native also was earned honorable mention All-American honors from SI.com while being tabbed the SBC's Defensive Player of the Year by the Sporting News.

McCoy will play for the East squad which is coached by Romeo Crennel.
