CHRIS MCCOY
Middle Tennessee defensive end Chris McCoy has been recognized as an Honorable Mention All-American by SportsIllustrated.com. This comes on the heels of McCoy being selected as a co-Defensive Player of the Year in the Sun Belt Conference.

The 6-4, 245-pound red-shirt senior from Villa Rica, GA led the Blue Raiders in sacks (7) and tackles for loss (20). He also had 59 tackles, three pass breakups and three quarterback hurries. McCoy blocked a field goal at Maryland, and recovered two fumbles, returning one of them 68 yards for a score at Clemson.

McCoy will close his collegiate career in the New Orleans Bowl this Sunday as the Blue Raiders take on Southern Miss at 7:30 pm on ESPN.

This is the third All-American designation for Middle Tennessee players under Coach Rick Stockstill. In 2007, Dwight Dasher was named to the Sporting News Freshman All-American team, while safety Damon Nickson was selected as a kick-return specialist by SI.com as well as Scout.com in 2006.
