Mattie Mae Elder, age 89, of Murfreesboro, passed away on September 6, 2010 at Adam’s Place Health Care Center.

She was a native of Coffee County but resided in Rutherford County for the past 35 years. Mattie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She attended Kingwood Heights Church of Christ. She loved making quilts and other gifts for her loved ones.
 
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ida Parker Deberry; husband, David A. Elder; son, Richard Elder and grandson, David Anthony Elder. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Wallar of Murfreesboro; brother, Cecil Deberry of Cannon County and three grandchildren, Amie Wallar-Igou, Aneta Wallar Dodd and Rich Elder.

Chapel service for Mattie will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Jennings & Ayers Chapel with Charles Mullins and Walt Leaver officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Manchester. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
