Mary Ellen Deter Williamson, age 91, died October 23, 2012 at McKendree Village in Hermitage, Tenn.

Mrs. Williamson was a native of Ozark, Ala., and was the daughter of the late O. E. and Lemmie Godwin Rhodes. She also preceded in death by her husbands: Dr. Frank H. Deter and Dr. Byrn Williamson; her eldest daughter, Martha Deter Davis and her brother, Elwyn Rhodes.

Mrs. Williamson attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee. She was graduated from Leon High School where she was editor of the school paper and participated in other activities. She was society and feature editor of the “Tallahassee Daily Democrat.”

She was a former assistant manager and buyer of the Ft. McPherson (Ga.) Post Exchange. After moving to Murfreesboro, she was secretary to the executive vice president of Murfreesboro Bank and Trust Company, secretary and assistant treasurer of Personal Loan and Investment Company and chief accountant and office manager of Martindale Brothers.

Mrs. Williamson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. She was former president of the Homer Pittard Elementary School P.T.A. and was a member of the Murfreesboro Woman’s Club.

Mrs. Williamson is survived by her son; Daniel E. Deter and his wife Catherine of Cecilia, KY; one daughter, Lois Endean Deter of Donelson, Tenn.; step-son, Francis H. Deter Jr. and his wife Alice of Wellsboro, Penn.; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00PM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Daniel E. Deter will deliver the eulogy. A private burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
