One unemployed man allegedly sold illegal drugs to support himself until he found a job and to support his own use, Murfreesboro Police reported Monday.
Suspect Shashank Dixit, 23, and his roommate, Northfield Elementary School teacher Charles Michael Miller, 23, of Middleborough Court were charged Friday with maintaining a dwelling to sell drugs, felony possession of Ecstasy tables and marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, Officer Matthew Roe reported.
Roe arrived at the home to arrest Dixit for not showing up in court. He obtained consent to search his home. The officer reported he found marijuana, LSD and Ecstasy.
Dixit told officers he sold the drugs he could not consume himself.
“Miller advised that he knew Dixit was selling drugs so that he could get money until he found a job,” Roe reported.
A woman at the home accused both men of selling the illegal drugs, Roe reported.
“In Dixit’s room, there was an obvious odor of marijuana,” Roe reported. “In Dixit’s room on the bedside sand, I found multiple pipes with residue, a marijuana grow chart and a small metal container with five hits of acid (LSD) and five hits of Ecstasy.”
A hall closet contained a grow operation with a fan for ventilation, two marijuana plants in pots, three other flower pots with marijuana seeds, fluorescent lights and a heater.
“In Miller’s room I discovered a prescription bottle with marijuana seeds in it,” Roe reported.
Multiple pipes, a grinder and glass jars with marijuana residue were found in the living room, the officer reported. Bongs, large plastic containers with marijuana, a pill, five Ecstasy tablets, digital scales and $404 in cash were found in the kitchen.
The roommates were charged and booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is set on the charges Jan. 28 in General Sessions Court.
