One 6-year-old girl accusations a man of molested her on multiple occasions led to his arrest, a Murfreesboro Police detective reported Tuesday.

Suspect Michael T. Sherfield, 57, of Minerva Drive was indicted on three counts of aggravated sexual battery, Detective Tommy Roberts reported.

Roberts received a referral from the Department of Children’s Services about the girl’s report Sherfield fondled her several times. Both Sherfield and the girl were interviewed, leading to Roberts presenting his evidence to the grand jury for indictments.

Sherfield has been on the sex offender registry since 2000, Roberts noted in his arrest report.

He is scheduled to receive copies of his indictment Monday from Circuit Court Judge David Bragg.
