An attempted first-degree murder indictment was issued against a man accused of cutting a taxi driver with a box cutter Jan. 28.
Defendant Eric Andre Smith, 28, of 1210 E. Northfield Blvd., was charged with attempted murder of Classy Taxi driver Frank Conley, Murfreesboro Detective John R. Singleton reported in his arrest warrant.
Grand jurors also indicted Smith on charges of especially aggravated robbery, three counts of aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, possession of a weapon while in commission of a felony, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and possession of a weapon while in commission of a felony.
In an unrelated case, John H. Randolph, 57, of Sevier Street, was charged with aggravated assault. In his arrest warrant, Singleton accused Randolph of stabbing victim Dale Gaines with a knife Jan. 2.
Defendants will receive copies of their indictments at 9 a.m. Monday from Circuit Court Judge Don Ash on the fourth floor of the Judicial Building.
