Multiple people scattered when a man fired four or five rounds from a handgun at a man attending a party Sunday at University Gables on South Rutherford Boulevard, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Victim Carl Boone heard the rounds in his direction but did not suffer any injuries, Officer Vy Phothirath reported.

Kristin Dobson, who hosted the party, reported a man pulled a handgun out and waved it around, Phothirath reported. He went outside and fired the handgun.

Two people accused one suspect of firing a handgun but he denied it.

Witnesses described the suspect as a black man about 5-foot-10. He wore his heard in dread locks. He wore a red shirt and white hoodie and a doo-rag with a red hat. He carried a silver handgun and drove a new silver Sentra or an older two-door white Accord.

In an unrelated carjacking, Officer Chris Pitts reported victim Sarah Bell of East College Street stopped to check her mail Saturday night on East Castle Street.

“Two black males approached her from behind and demanded her money and her keys,” Pitts reported. “Ms. Bell told them that she did not have any money and the keys were in the car. After the subjects searched Ms. Bell for keys and money, they told her not to look back and left in Ms. Bell’s 2000 Honda Accord and left in an unknown direction.”

Sgt. Cary Gensemer pursued the Accord from Vine Street to Highland Avenue where the suspects bailed out and fled.

In another case, Officer Marja Atchley reported she was patrolling about 4 a.m. Saturday when she came into contact with Grady Reeves and Terence Taylor walking home on Academy Street and Palm Court.

“A gray Ford Escort pulled up next to them,” Atchley reported. “Two black males exited the vehicle demanding all of their money. One black male was light-skinned with dreads wearing a red shirt. He had a small handgun displayed at the complainants.”

A woman driver accompanied them.

The second man struck victim Reeves in the back of the head with his hand, she reported. Reeves and Taylor ran.

People who have information about the crimes may call the Criminal Investigations Division at 893-2717 or Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
