A West Tennessee truck driver charged with raping a young woman in July 2009 pleaded guilty to aggravated assault Thursday.

Larry Allen Blaylock, 38, of McKenzie, Tenn., was charged with rape after he was accused of forcing himself on a 22-year-old woman July 7, 2007 outside her Raiders Ridge Apartment on Wenlon Drive, Detective Jeff Keaton reported.

Blaylock was scheduled for trial next week but decided to plead guilty to a different charge after negotiations between his attorney, Luke Evans, and Assistant District Attorney Jennings Jones.

Circuit Court Judge David Bragg accepted the plea where Blaylock will serve six months in jail, then be placed on state probation eight years.

Under terms of probation, Blaylock must not contact the victim. If he does, he will serve an eight-year sentence.

The victim must submit her medical bills within two months for Blaylock to pay.

At the time, the woman who accused Blaylock of raping her was examined and treated at Middle Tennessee Medical Center’s emergency room.

“She had scratches and bruises on her neck,” Keaton said.

Officer James Smith interviewed the woman at the emergency room. She and her male roommate were at a Murfreesboro bar and had too much to drink. A man they didn’t know gave them a ride home. After she came back out of her apartment to walk her dog, the man who was still outside threatened to choke her if she didn’t comply with his demands for sex.

“(The) victim stated she did as he said because she thought he would kill her,” Smith reported. “(The) victim stated the suspect then raped her.”

Keaton interviewed the woman who reported when she came outside with the dog, the man wanted her to sit in his truck.

“He forced himself on top of her,” Keaton said.

After he was finished, he released the woman. She called a friend to take her to the emergency room.

Keaton located Blaylock by checking at the tavern. The woman identified Blaylock as the suspect through a photo lineup. During an interview, Blaylock made a statement to Keaton who arrested him.

Blaylock was in Rutherford County visiting his mother.

He began serving the six-month sentence Thursday.

I just do not understand why the DA would cut a deal with this man. He raped a woman and needs to be locked up for far more than 6 months. He will be out in a few months, free to rape again.

Also, he does not have to be placed on sex offender registry.

Oh but the DA saved money by not going to trial and another rapist will go free. I feel sorry for the victim that justice will never be served and it will take alot longer than 6 months to get past this in her life.

He gets - Two years free to roam and now only 6 months (probably less) in jail and doesn't even have to register as a sex offender.
She gets - Two years of painful memories, worry, dread and fear and now she has to deal with knowing he got a slap on the wrist and she is sentenced with a lifetime of painful memories, worry, dread and fear. Is there no one left anymore who cares enough to make sure the punishment equals the crime? Obviously not in this situation.
