Man charged with injuring child | CRIME

Matthew B. Graham
A 3-year-old child suffered bleeding to his eyes, genital injuries and acute bruising believed inflicted by an adult in May, a Murfreesboro Detective reported.

Grand jurors indicted suspect Matthew B. Graham, 26, of 1815 Lexington Trace on two counts of aggravated child abuse of the 3-year-old.

Detective Tommy Roberts reported his investigation showed the child suffered bleeding to his brain and bleeding to his eye, injuries consistent with blunt force and bruising.

“The victim also sustained injuries to the genital area along with other miscellaneous injuries,” Roberts reported.

Police spokesman Maj. Clyde Adkison reported the relationship between Graham and the child was undisclosed.

Graham was booked Tuesday into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. His is scheduled to receive copies of his indictment Monday, May 21 in Circuit Court.

Some big tough man needs to take this creep out to the woods somewhere, and come back without him!

By: tomatoguy on 7/10/08
Put him in Gen. Pop. and let nature take it's course.

I would like to be the one to kick the chair out from under him... after republicaninboro ties the rope around his neck.

God bless that poor baby.

Guys, you're all flag waving Americans, but you're apparently not aware of the Constitution. Read it, you'll find you comments to have criminal intent.

I'm not defending this low-life worthless piece of garbage, but the most most basic laws of our nation are. Think on that.

devolver- I find it disturbing that every time you bring up the Constitution it's in defense of the criminal. Are YOU not aware that this child and other victims like him are also covered by the constitution? He and they have a right to live their young lives free of fear and pain inflicted on them by creeps like this. If our "basic laws" are going to continue to let these criminals off on a technicality, or a slap on the wrist, then maybe we need to get those laws changed!

As for criminal intent? I don't think so. We have not incited a riot, and we won't be gathering in front of the jail with a rope in our hands. We have simply expressed our opinion on what we think would be fair punishment for creeps like this. I think our right to do this is covered by the constitution, also.

Here is something to chew on - Mathews mother Rohnda Graham who claims this man to be a loving and caring individual has herself filed domestic violence charges against him. I think it is quite ridiculous that she claims her child is incapable of this assault. Given she had reached a point of abuse suffered by him that she felt it needed to request the police protect her from him, it stands to reason she might consider his abuse knows no moral bounds. Many people have commented on the mother of the child whom was assulted, suggesting she has failed her child and has some blame to bare. These individuals have no idea of the circumstances involved nor the extent she has gone to inorder to seek justice in her childs name. I only have one other thing to add, it is my greatest hope that the justice department, in pursuit of these charges, does the same.

Some big tough man needs to take this creep out to the woods somewhere, and come back without him!" - Implying someone should take him to the woods and kill him, murder.

"By: tomatoguy on 7/10/08
Put him in Gen. Pop. and let nature take it's course." - Implying he be "thrown to the wolves", criminal negligence.

"By: republicaninboro on 7/10/08
Hang him!!!" - Implying murder.

I find it disturbing that you guys (apparently) have murder in your hearts. What gives you the right to kill or maim? But, I find it more likely that its all bark and no bite. You're just a bunch of cowards who like to make wild statements without backing them up. Just a bunch of nonsense false bravado and mock vigilantism.

I'm not supporting Matthew B. Graham, nor am I supporting any criminal activity. What I'm doing is chastising you for your mob mentality.

And, yomamma, that's something they'll definitely take into consideration.

If speaking out and voicing my opinion on what I think should happen to any low life who would hurt a child makes me a coward with a mob mentality then, you got it. I'm guilty!

By: Sunny on 7/17/08
Devolver: I have to say criminals love those with your mentality because it allows them to repeat their crimes, and most importantly---they count on you to feel sorry for them and let them go.
Hello! Wake up! This crime is against a defenseless child.
Are you saying that the public should turn away from justice because of what it looks like?
How are we not "backing up our statements"? How is this mob mentality?
The facts lay before you. Yet you still feel nothing in your heart other than disdain for those who want justice.
Do you even have children?
Are you telling me that if this was your child you wouldn't want justice, because it would be "murder in your heart"?
Wow. You are a cold and insensitive individual if you feel nothing resembling compassion for a helpless child.

By: devolver on 7/20/08
There is one thing to want justice. There is another thing to want your sort of "back-yard justice", which includes hangings and other sorts of "justice" alluded to by the other posters.

I don't feel sorry for this guy, or anyone else who does something stupid and gets in trouble for it.

All I'm saying is that we have laws in this nation that protect people from cruel and unusual punishment. This not only protects criminals from being tortured in the hands of the public, but also protects the wrongly accused.

You guys really need to stop wearing your emotions on your sleeves and THINK about the larger implications.

I don't have children myself, but I do have three nieces, and you had better believe that if anyone did something to them I would be furious beyond belief. Does that mean I would get on a forum and post how they should be outright murdered by a mob of angry people? No.

I am neither cold nor insensitive. I simply don't allow my emotions to affect my judgment.

By: Boo on 7/21/08
Standing under a tree during a lightening storm is "stupid". Beating a defenseless child until his eyes bleed is not only cruel and inhumane, but EVIL. The punishment should fit the crime. Parole or a few months in jail with all the ammenities does not fit!
