| Aggravated assault and assault on officers’ charges were filed Thursday against a suspect accused of threatening a man with a gun and fighting with two deputies, said Sheriff Robert F. Arnold.
Suspect Kienskai Bupasiri, 51, of Applegate Apartments in Murfreesboro, was charged after being released from Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
Victim Richard May of Player Drive off Southridge Boulevard reported he was repairing Bupasiri’s vehicle early Wednesday when he became upset and chased him with a loaded .22-caliber rifle.
Sgt. Lee Young and Deputy Will Lehew ordered Bupasiri to drop the rifle but he refused. During the struggle, Bupasiri attempted to grab Young’s weapon. The suspect suffered injuries during the struggle.
Bupasiri was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where bond was set at $12,000. A hearing is set on his charges Nov. 8 in General Sessions Court. |

So, was it a handgun as the title says or was it a rifle as the article says? Is it possible the writer doesn't know the difference?

@borowatcher,
If you look at the first sentence of the article, "Aggravated assault and assault on officers’ charges were filed Thursday against a suspect accused of threatening a man with a handgun and fighting with two deputies, said Sheriff Robert F. Arnold," you'll find your answer.

If you look further in the article, it says .22 cal. RIFLE so I guess we'd best ask the deputies involved.

Could it not be both?
By:

@MichelleWillard...seriously, both? So, are you saying he had two weapons? A handgun and a rifle? How does that work? I don't know about anyone else but any time I shoot a rifle or shotgun I always use both hands. How, then, does that leave a free hand for a handgun? Just thinking out loud here!

Perhaps the perp was chasing the victim with the rifle and then later tried to grab the deputy's handgun during the struggle?

"man charged after THREATEN others..."
maybe.......threatenING ?
Did Robert Arnold write this article ?

yes......very confusing. 2 rifle references and 2 handgun references.

Not confusing.. suspect(bupasiri) only had a rifle, then suspect(bupasiri) attempted to grab Deputy Young's weapon. now it doesnt mention handgun anywhere in here but the post may have fixed it.
By:
acdsrool on 10/31/10
Oh, yeah, Tama, they fixed it but the aggravating thing is they (Post writers) never admit to a mistake or say thanks for pointing out the problem or anything. They fix it and go on and then others read the article/comments and it is even more confusing because now people are wondering what the earlier comments are about. Just once, Post, please acknowledge a mistake was made and then corrected.

It was corrected after the writer admitted her mistake. I find it funny that with the anonymity that comes with online comments, you find it acceptable to insult the intelligence of those by giving your real name and stop hiding behind a pseudonym. I use my name on here, why can't you. There is a big difference between real constructive criticism and these comments.

@MichelleWillard...don't you work for The Post? Also, please direct us to the admission of mistake. Additionally, maybe I'm not the brightest in the world but your second sentence doesn't make sense, even after reading it multiple times.

I find it funny that with the anonymity that comes with online comments, you find it acceptable to insult the intelligence of those by NOT giving your real name and stop hiding behind a pseudonym.
There was an omitted "not."
I do work for the Post.
And you still hide behind your screen name.

Sounds like someone is a little touchy. Wonder how the POST feels about an employee taking issue with a reader? Not very professional, in my opinion. If the POST is against screen names, then why allow them?
By:
acdsrool on 10/31/10
@MichelleWillard...and you still didn't provide us with the admission of mistake.
@spook...yep, a little touchy. When ballplayers react to comments from the crowd they are referred to as having 'rabbit ears'.

Michelle, don't be so touchy when readers point out mistakes. Words are your business....your chosen profession.
Take the time to get them right. Otherwise, go work for the DNJ.
and the headline is STILL grammatically wrong
