Two men robbed and beat a man and threatened to shoot him early Sunday at his Rutherford County home, a sheriff’s deputy reported.

Victim William D. McGhee of East Jefferson Pike near La Vergne suffered injuries when struck all over his body until he lost consciousness, Deputy Matt Clagg reported. When he awoke, he found his hands, legs and face bound with duct tape.

McGhee spent about two hours freeing himself of the duct tape so he could call 911.

Sgt. Kenneth Barrett, Deputy Clint Beasley and Clagg responded to the 911 call.

“McGhee was completely nude and had duct tape around his face and hands,” Clagg reported. “McGhee appeared to be intoxicated and was uncooperative during the investigation.”

He told deputies a man he knew and a second man he didn’t entered his home while he slept on the couch. They drug him off the couch and into the kitchen.

One of the men put a small revolver to McGhee’s forehead and asked his companion, “What should I do?” The companion replied, “Shoot him.” The men beat McGhee.

His home showed signs of a struggle, the deputy reported. His 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, valued at $20,000, was stolen.

Sixteen weapons were stolen, including a Browning Special Sporting Gold shotgun valued at $5,200. Other firearms missing include pistols, shotguns and rifles. The robbers also stole about $1,350 worth of prescription medication and $600 cash for a total $33,860 loss.

People who have information about the robbery are asked to call Detective Steve Kohler at 904-3046.

Is it just me or does it not say he knew one of these two people who robbed him? If he did know one of the robbers why do they still need help,Or why cant they tell us that persons name?

2003 Silverado valued at $20,000.00? Sounds like they forgot to mention it had $10,000.00 cash in the glove box. Also if he was drunk, naked and bound with duct tape maybe not a robbery at all maybe his little game with his buddies just did'nt work out like he thought it would.

If he spent nearly two hours freeing himself so that he could call 911, then why didn't he put some clothes on before the police got there?? Also, if he freed himself to call 911 then why did the deputy say he had duct tape around his hands and face?? Hmmm, I should be a detective!!!!

I think some of this story is written out of sequence or something.
