Edward K. Vanepps was arrested Tuesday on charges of solicitation of a minor and attempt to commit child rape.
Monday, Feb. 20, the Murfreesboro man approached a woman and offered to pay her $100 if she let him have sex with her 7 year old daughter, according to an arrest report from Murfreesboro Police Department.
The mother promptly reported the incident to police, who identified the man as Vanepps, 37, of Atlas Street.
Sgt. Wayne Lawson found him at Baymont Inn and brought him in for questioning the following day.
Vanepps admitted to officers he texted the mother, telling her he'd had previous sexual contact with an 8 year old girl and had sold another little girl for sex in the past. He claimed to have "made these statements up" to put the mother at ease with the idea of selling her daughter for sex, the report says.
Vanepps was placed him under arrest and is being held at Rutherford County Jail on $10,000 bond.
