A Murfreesboro man has been accused of attempted murder stemming from an accusation as the result of a domestic violence situation that unfolded on Shoreham Street Sunday, July 27 at approximately 4 a.m.

Victim Sherrita Montgomery told police she got home late and fell asleep in her vehicle parked in her driveway. That was when Steven Terrell Akins, 33, woke her up by walking up to her car. Montgomery told officers that when she saw Akins, she tried to start her car and drive away due to previous domestic disputes.

As Montgomery was trying to start her car, Akins allegedly started striking her window and eventually her, with a hammer. The report confirmed that Montgomery was seriously injured in the attack. The victim was struck in the right eye by the hammer.

After Montgomery finally got her car started, she managed to drive herself to the hospital. Once at the hospital, she told police that Akins stated, “That’s what you get for talking crazy.”

According to a domestic violence report, medical staff at the local hospital advised Montgomery that she would likely lose her right eye as a result of the hammer attack. She was then transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Here's another case of a senseless case of domestic violence. This incident according to this article is between a man who seem to have a history of domestic disputes with this woman. It would be wise for the both of them to end their so call relationship. It is sad to hear about any man beating up his wife or girlfriend over nonsense matters.

There need to be tougher laws that will punish those who threat the lives of others. Maybe, a couple of months of anger management classes or some sought of tracking device on him or her that will inform the authorities that suspect is to close in range to his victim. Because of this attack, this woman will have to live now with one eye missing.

Most of the time the man is so jealous hearted that he is afraid that she is seeing someone else and he goes into a raging fit. Women seem not to have a chance to explain their self and if she does it's not good enough. The problem here was that she went to sleep in her car only to wake up to a bad dream that could have been avoided. Leave this man, there's only trouble for you or it may be your life next time. Locking him up will not solve his problem. He will only attack someone else. Ladies this is not a man, but a controller.
