A woman suffered injuries when her baby’s father allegedly stuck his fingers in her mouth and cut the inside under her tongue during an argument about a cell phone Monday outside the Cricket store, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Victim Jessi Jane Ray, 20, of Major Drive suffered the injuries when she and her child’s father, Shawn Tunnicliff were outside the Cricket store on Memorial Boulevard arguing about a phone, Officer Laura Elkins reported.

Ray accused him of grabbing her wallet from the console and stealing $95 before fleeing, the officer reported.

Elkins located Tunnicliff, 22, at his Northfield Boulevard home where she charged him with domestic assault and theft. A hearing is set Dec. 10 in General Sessions Court.

Ray was one of several people assaulted during the past few days.

In another case, Officer David Suggs reported victims Felecia Ice of East Clark Boulevard and Shamika Smith of Sterling Street were at Ice’s home about 7 p.m. Friday when two men wearing Spiderman masks entered the apartment searching for drugs.

One man was armed with a .38-caliber revolver and the second man was armed with a .45 semi-automatic handgun, the officer reported. The second suspect racked one round out of the pistol and struck Ice in the head before leaving.

In a home invasion robbery, Officer David Miller reported resident James Phillips of Pepperdine Drive fired several rounds at his front door when someone kicked in the door about 2:45 a.m. Thanksgiving morning.

He ordered a woman and her two children inside to hide in the bathroom.

Phillips heard the suspects run to the back of the home where he saw the suspects run down the fence line.

“He shot two more times through the back door,” Miller reported, adding two rounds struck a neighbor’s home.

Officer Ryan Holobaugh responded with his K-9 Brack to search for the suspects while detectives obtained evidence from the crime scene.

Miller checked the pistol and learned it was stolen Oct. 4, 2007 from a Rutherford County victim. Phillips told Miller he bought the handgun during a gun show in 2007 at the Smyrna Expo Center but he didn’t have any paperwork.

In another case, Officer James Thomas reported victim James Turner, 30, of Kenslo Avenue, suffered injuries in an assault about 7 a.m. Monday on February Street.

Turner got a ride with a cab driver he knew to Handlebar bar on East Main Street where the cab driver drank. When Turner asked for a ride home, the cab driver took him to his home on February Street where the cab driver and another man “snorted Lortab (drug) off the dashboard.”

The cab driver couldn’t find his Michael Jackson compact disc so he pulled Turner out of the cab and the two men assaulted him.

“Turner stated that his assailants struck him multiple times in the head, knocked out several teeth and stomped on his foot, which was already broken,” Thomas reported.

A friend of Turner’s saw the assault and came to his aid, the officer reported. The second man with the cab driver pulled out a handgun and threatened Turner’s friend. Turner believes they pistol-whipped him with the gun. Turner and his friend went to his house and called an ambulance. Paramedics took him to Middle Tennessee Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Turner returned to the medical center after complaining of being dizzy. He was advised about obtaining arrest warrants.

Ya I agree. Since when did home invasions become news? Who needs to know about that stuff? Let's hear what elguapo and cmac want to hear about. They seem to know what we all want. Hey I have an idea. If you don't like the free newspaper, don't read it! I happen to like to know what's going on in my community. Get a grip.

I agree, especially since I live near the home invasion that was reported. Makes me think that I might not be so anti-gun after all...
