Mamie Louise Davis Brown, age 85, of Murfreesboro, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at her home.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Asa Davis Sr. and Florence Smith Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thurman “Shorty” Brown Jr., who died in 2010, and brothers, Asa Davis Jr., Morgan Davis, and sister, Lucille Ogles.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her sons, Larry Brown of Bell Buckle, Tenn., and Wayne (Marilyn) Brown of Murfreesboro; daughters, Patsy Douglas of Murfreesboro, Ruth Viggins of Christiana, and Carolyn (Curtis) Smotherman of Arrington, Tenn.; grandchildren, David Douglas, Tony (Misty) Smotherman, Brandon Smotherman, Jeremy Brown, Kathy (Mark) Hollmann, and Teri Viggins; great-grandson, Grant Hollmann; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Barfield Baptist Church and was retired from Chromalox. She also worked at Stones River Manor. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her devoted caregiver, Janet Hopson, and the staff of Alive Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice in memory of Mrs. Brown.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Doug Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Larry Brown, Jackie Davis, Curtis Smotherman, David Douglas, Jeremy Brown and Mark Hollmann serving as pallbearers.
