Once Jesus was crucified upon the cross and gave his life – spirit, soul and body – in exchange for you, he declared in Revelation 1:18: “I am the One who lives; I was dead, but look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys to death and to the place of the dead.” (New Century Version)
Jesus is saying that he is alive forever, in spirit, soul, and body, and will never die again. He has all authority and power to save lives from eternal darkness, sin and hell. Isaiah the prophet foretells this several hundred years before Jesus came to earth. In Isaiah 9:6-7 it is said of Jesus that the government of God’s Kingdom will be upon his shoulders and that there will be no end to his government on earth and in heaven.
The Lord Jesus Christ lives and he is the supreme Ruler of the Kingdom of God, both in heaven and in earth. There is a war going on between the forces of eternal life and eternal damnation, between the armies of God, both human and angelic, and the forces of darkness, deceiving humans to do their will.
But Jesus is alive and has promised to dwell among his people and to fight through them with his love, peace, and power. Jesus has already overcome Satan through his death and subsequent resurrection.
Leviticus 26:12 from the Old Testament says that God will walk among us and he will be our God and we will be his people. Zephaniah 3:17, also from the Old Testament, says, “The Lord your God is in your midst and He will save you from your enemies.” When Jesus came to earth, God made a new agreement with mankind and Jesus paid with his own blood. God, the creator of heaven and earth said, “I will put my laws in their minds and write them upon their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people … everyone will know me from the least to the greatest. I will forgive their wickedness and will not remember their sins.”
Everyone who believes in this living Jesus and his shed blood and receives this covenant will experience Jesus’ life and salvation from Satan’s kingdom.
