| Stones River Greenway Bridge over Murfreesboro’s Greenway south of town will close Wednesday and remain closed for six to eight weeks while decking is replaced.
The bridge will be closed Monday through Friday during the renovations, Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD) officials said, but opened for weekends until the project is complete.
“The department knows this bridge is crucial to the connectivity of the greenway system,” assistant department director Angela Jackson explained, “and we will work to limit the time that the bridge is closed as much as possible.”
Curl Construction Company submitted the winning project bid; the re-decking is the first part of an extension that eventually will push the city’s system of trails over 11 miles and into Barfield-Crescent Park.
MPRD has pledged to keep the public informed about he status of project.
“Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department will notify the public about the bridge closures through signage, the city’s Facebook page, and updates on the City’s website at www.murfreesborotn.gov/parks,” Jackson said.
