Shanterrica Madden was sentenced Tuesday to 29 years in prison for the 2011 murder of Lady Raider basketball player Tina Stewart.

Jurors found Madden guilty of second degree murder and tampering with evidence in May in the stabbing death of Stewart, bringing more than a year of legal proceedings to a close.

Madden faced between 15 and 25 years in prison, as well a three- to six-year sentence for tampering with evidence.
