Murfreesboro Maaco operator Mike Fredericks this week celebrates 10 years in business. During that time, the 1419 NW Broad St. facility has repaired more than 15,000 vehicles.

Unlike many other businesses, Maaco is doing well in the current economic climate, as drivers opt to make do with the cars they have rather than buy new ones, Fredericks said.

"Many motorists are also reluctant to refer accidents to their insurance companies," Fredericks continued. “About one in eight vehicles suffer physical damage each year, but only about half those motorists file a claim. High deductibles and fear of rising premiums are the reasons many insured drivers elect to pay for repairs themselves.

"We offer options to out-of-pocket payers," Fredericks continued. "For example, we can replace a bumper with a new OEM part, or we can save money with a certified aftermarket replacement bumper. Very often, we can repair and paint the damaged bumper, and the cost savings can be dramatic."

The 475 Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting facilities across the continent paint and repair more than 600,000 vehicles each year. Maaco maintains the resale value of newer vehicles by repainting repaired areas to exactly match the undamaged areas. Older cars with widespread surface damage are candidates for complete car repainting, which can actually increase resale value.

The auto body chain has serviced 17 million customers, including fleet contracts with the U.S. Postal Service, Aramark, Canada Post, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Verizon, among others.
