After an extended illness, Lorraine Jenkins (Smithson) McCain, age 67, passed away on May 5, 2013 to be with her Lord and Savior.
A native of Middle Tennessee, growing up in the Scottsboro Community and living in Smyrna for many years, Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Ellen Jenkins and a brother, Bruce Long. She is survived by her husband, Don McCain; daughter, Sue Ellen (Brian) King; brother, George (Carmel) Jenkins; sister, Georgia (Charles) Pund; sister, Mary (Johnny) MacRae; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
A graduate of Cumberland High School, Lorraine worked for 32 years at Vanderbilt Medical Center in the Central Processing Unit. She loved her job and her coworkers – often entertaining them with her jokes and quick wit. An avid country music fan, Lorraine’s radio was always tuned into 650 WSM where she often requested songs to be played by her favorite artists: Marty Robbins, Vern Gosdin, Conway Twitty, George Jones, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline and many other traditional country music singers.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7 from 4 pm – 7 pm and one hour before the funeral service at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 8 at the Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna. Chaplain Bobby Howard will officiate the service with interment at the Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
