This article points to one of the signs of a bureaucracy in action where politics play a big role in the operation of an entity. A prime example is MTSU where faculty spends nearly as much time in meetings as they do in teaching. Why? Because some administrators are out of touch with what is happening in the classroom try to learn something from their subordinates to pass on up the chain of command to someone equally out of touch. All this goes on via meetings where anything not politcally popular goes though a sanitizing process.
