The Murfreesboro Salvation Army soon will be sorting boxes of crayons and pencils, rulers, glue, scissors and other school items to put into backpacks for children from first through eighth grade whose families need assistance with school supplies.
While the organization is grateful for the 20 backpacks that have been donated, as many as 200 children need backpacks. Therefore, the organization is putting out the call for backpacks, for both girls and boys in the aforementioned age range. School supplies are certainly needed as well, but without backpacks, the distribution of items will be difficult.
Any individual or group interested in donating a quantity of backpacks, call The Salvation Army at 895-7071 to get details — or you may drop off backpacks at 1137 West Main Street. Monetary contributions are certainly welcome and can be mailed to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 791, Murfreesboro, TN 37133. |
