Rutherford Books from Birth, part of the Governor's Books from Birth Foundation and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, mails free books every month to Rutherford County children who are registered for the program.

All children living in Rutherford County are eligible, from birth to age 5. Visit rutherfordbooks.org to sign up your child, donate to the program and learn more.

“The simple act of reading books to your children on a regular basis gives them a big boost toward a successful education,” said Hunter McFarlin, founding President of the five-year-old organization. “Research shows that children begin acquiring reading and language skills from birth. At three years old, their brains are twice as active as an adult's brain. It’s vital to engage children with reading and books from a very early age.”
