Smyrna – StoneCrest Medical Center is encouraging creative development at LaVergne Lake Elementary by displaying student artwork in the facility’s hallways.
“The Picasso and Matisse artwork far exceeded our expectations for an elementary school level art project,” said Mark Sims, CEO of StoneCrest Medical Center. “Physicians, visitors and staff are amazed to learn that elementary school students created the paintings.”
StoneCrest adopted LaVergne Lake Elementary as part of the Business Education Partnership’s “Adopt a School” program and is supporting the school in a variety of ways including the creative development project.
“Staff and students at La Vergne Lake Elementary are very excited about providing artwork for display at Stonecrest Medical Center,” said Jeff Mccann, principal at LaVergne Lake Elementary School. “We hope our art will help to brighten the day of a patient or family member that may need some good cheer. It is our goal to continue the partnership with even greater exposure for our students’ spirit of giving and hard work.”
LaVergne Lake Elementary art teacher Deanna Vanek led the oversized Picasso and Matisse art project that is currently on display at the main entrance of the hospital.
The students have provided new artwork to replace the Matisse and Picasso pieces that have been on display since November. The new artwork will go on display in February. |
