Got overdue library fines - and some extra groceries?
If so, the Linebaugh Public Library System is offering an easy way to pay off those overdue fines.
For one week, patrons of the library will have the option to bring in canned goods to pay off library fines. Not only will you be getting rid of some fines, but you will be helping your fellow neighbor too.
From Sunday, Oct. 18 through Saturday, Oct. 24, the Linebaugh Public Library System (Linebaugh Library in Murfreesboro, Myrtle Glanton Lord Library at Patterson Park, Smyrna Public Library in Smyrna, and the Eagleville Bicentennial Public Library in Eagleville) will be collecting food donations. Smyrna’s collection will go to the Smyrna -La Vergne Food Bank, and all other sites will collect for the Salvation Army.
Bring your canned goods to the Library Circulation desk, and your fines for overdue items will be waived. Charges for lost or damaged items cannot be waived.
We will waive $1 in fines for each can donated to help feed the hungry. Bring only new, unopened cans within expiration date.
No fines? You can still help out and make a food donation anyway. Last year, our patrons donated nearly 1,600 cans to this food drive.
Since both the Food Bank and Salvation Army are committed to helping provide for those in need, you can be sure that donations are going to a good cause.
Remember: the library is ONLY collecting canned goods for the food drive.
To find out if you owe any fines, simply go to the library’s Web site at www.linebaugh.org and choose “review my account”. Enter your library card number and PIN (typically the last six digits of your library card).
Linebaugh Public Library is located at 105 W. Vine St. in Murfreesboro. The Library is the cornerstone of our community, enriching lives through free resources for learning, fun and opportunity.
