Linebaugh Public Library System is pleased to announce Pete Wood has been named Employee of the Year for 2009-10.

Wood is the Supervisor of Instructional Technology at Linebaugh Public Library, where he has worked for seven years.

Wood assists with the maintenance of the library’s computer systems and software. During the past year, he has been heavily involved in the library system’s adoption of an RFID system.

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a technology for tracking materials belonging to the library.

In November 2009, LPLS was awarded a grant from the Christy-Houston Foundation to implement RFID.

Wood has been the point person on the project, conducting research, compiling information, and coordinating with the library’s software vendors.

He has been heavily involved in the RFID implementation.

Wood also coordinates the free computer classes offered at Linebaugh Library.

He selects the volunteers who teach the classes, schedules the classes, and works with United Way’s Project PASS to offer employment-related classes and one-on-one resume assistance.

In addition, Wood often troubleshoots computer problems on staff machines and assists library patrons using the computer labs.

The LPLS Employee of the Month is sponsored by Jeff’s Family Restaurant of Murfreesboro.

Linebaugh Public Library System has two branches in Murfreesboro, branches in Eagleville and Smyrna, and a Bookmobile.
