Linebaugh Public Library and the MTSU History Department are looking for local stories about the Great Depression and about the current economic downturn.

The library will record oral history interviews in the Cotton Warehouse at Uncle Dave Macon Days on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12. The library is seeking seniors to discuss memories of the Depression and the impact the Depression had on their lives; the library is also seeking people of all ages to discuss how the current Great Recession is affecting them now. The collected histories will be donated to the Albert Gore Research Center at MTSU.

The oral histories are being collected as part of the library’s Soul of a People program series, an examination of the Federal Writers’ Project. The library will also screen clips from the upcoming Soul of a People documentary and from the locally produced documentary Uncle Dave Macon Days: Tribute to Old Time Music & Dance.
