LA VERGNE, Tenn. -- To celebrate the return of “Downton Abbey” for its fourth season on PBS, the La Vergne Public Library is hosting a tea party for fans of the show.

On Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m., up to 24 adults will gather in the storytime room for afternoon tea.

“The television show by screenwriter Julian Fellows was based on the book ‘To Marry an English Lord’ by Gail MacColl and Carol Wallace. It is a story about what happens after an American woman marries an English aristocrat,” Library Director Donna Bebout said. “It is a very popular show that offers a glimpse of what life was like both for the rich and the working class.”

Along with tea and assorted finger foods, guests at the event will be eligible for giveaways and show their trivia knowledge about Downton Abbey. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to wear clothing from the early 1900s and bring their favorite teacup to use.

To reserve a spot, stop by the La Vergne Public Library or call 615-793-7303 no later than Wednesday, Jan. 29.
