LHS Choraliers win big in St. Louis

The City of La Vergne proudly welcomed the LHS Choraliers home Sunday night after they competed in the renowned Heritage Festival of St. Louis.

Under the direction of Gilbert Aldridge, La Vergne High School received three honors:

• Choraliers: 2nd Place - Gold A Rating 92/100
• Rockafellas: 1st Place - Gold A Rating 92/100
• Tony Brown: Individual Achievement

As a result of these outstanding performances, the LHS Choraliers also received an invitation to participate in the 2012 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

The city will honor the students with a police escort through town when they return this evening. Mayor Senna Mosley is urging citizens to show their support, "Come out to the high school and congratulate our students tonight! This is such a great opportunity for La Vergne. It clearly shows that we have a great educational program in our community."

"This is a proud moment for La Vergne," said Vice Mayor Chris Farmer. "We have known for many years that our choir is outstanding ˆ you recognize their excellence every time they perform the National Anthem. Congratulations to this talented group of musicians!"

The red Wise Tours bus arrived in La Vergne on Waldron Road around 7:45 p.m. Sunday and was routed down Waldron Road, through town on Murfreesboro Road, then up Sam Ridley Parkway and to the high school.  Residents of La Vergne were encouraged to to attend with congratulatory signs to welcome the singers home.
