Sadly, we find ourselves in a contentious situation as the result of some remarks made in a recent (Murfreesboro Post) newspaper column. Taking on a bigger than life aspect, our dust-up has had a broad national Internet presence. As the party of the workingman, we sincerely hope there are not economic consequences.

This is no time to turn from the peaceful change of power to the turmoil of enmity and prejudice. We ask that people from all political parties join in maintaining the political and spiritual peace that traditionally has held forth in Rutherford County where, as it once was said of Atlanta, our people are too busy to have time for prejudices.
