The City of Murfreesboro expects to receive a Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012. HUD has notified the City it will receive $673,050 in new funding to implement its Community Development program for the next year.
The Community Development Department will conduct a public hearing on the above date to present its proposed Third Year Action Plan for allocating and expending grant funds. Interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing and offer their comments on the proposed plan. Following the public hearing, the proposed action plan will be available for examination at the Linebaugh Library (West Vine Street), the Myrtle Glanton Lord branch library at Patterson Park Community Center, the Community Development Department at McFadden Community Center (Room 136) and online at the City’s website: www.murfreesborotn.gov.
Written comments concerning the Third Year Action Plan will be accepted during a 30-day review period from April 11, 2012, through May 10, 2012. Comments may be mailed to the Community Development Department, delivered by hand or sent by fax (217-2260) or by e-mail. Address e-mailed comments to jcallow@murfreesborotn.gov.
PROJECTED USE OF FUNDS
The City of Murfreesboro proposes to use its Community Development Block Grant to support National Objective #1 of the CDBG program: Benefit low- and moderate-income persons. In support of this national objective, the City’s 2010-2015 Strategic Plan focuses on safe and livable neighborhoods; maintaining strong and sustainable financial and economic health; and delivering excellent services with a focus on customer service and efficiency. The City proposes to allocate available funding for FY2012 to meet these priorities as follows:

Public notification of violations of Murfreesboro industrial user permit is hereby given in accordance with state and federal regulations.
BFI Landfill is in Significant Non-compliance due to violations of the Technical Review Criteria in which 33% of all samples taken from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012 exceeded their monthly discharge limit for Biological Oxygen Demand.
