TO BE RUN IN THE MURFREESBORO POST: March 31, 2013
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Thursday, April 4, 2013 • 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Patterson Park Community Center
521 Mercury Boulevard
Murfreesboro, TN 37130
The City of Murfreesboro expects to receive a Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the fiscal year
beginning July 1, 2013. Because HUD had not determined Community Development Block Grant allocations prior to the submission for publication of this notice, the City is making the following assumptions: The City’s CDBG allocation for FY2012 was $673,050. Assuming a 5% decrease in current funding because of the sequester, the City estimates the allocation available for the period covered by the Fourth Year
Action Plan will be $639,398; approximately $10,000 will be reprogrammed from FY2012; the CDBG-funded loan portfolio will generate approximately $17,000. The Fourth Year Action Plan is built on a presumption of $666,398 being available to fund the City’s CDBG projects.
The Community Development Department will conduct a public hearing on the above date to present its proposed Fourth Year Action Plan for allocating and expending grant funds. Interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing and offer their comments on the proposed plan. Following the public hearing, the proposed action plan will be available for examination at the Linebaugh Library (West Vine Street), the Myrtle Glanton Lord branch library at Patterson Park Community Center, the
Community Development Department at McFadden Community Center (Room 136) and online at the City’s website: www.murfreesborotn.gov.
Written comments regarding the Fourth Year Action Plan will be accepted during a
30-day review period from April 5, 2013, through May 4, 2013. Comments may be mailed to the Community Development Department, delivered by hand or sent by fax (217-2260) or by e-mail. Address e-mailed comments to email@example.com.
PROJECTED USE OF FUNDS
The City of Murfreesboro proposes to use its Community Development Block Grant to support National Objective #1 of the CDBG program: Benefit low- and moderate-income persons. In support of this national objective, the City’s 2010-2015 Strategic Plan focuses on safe and livable neighborhoods; maintaining strong and sustainable
financial and economic health; and delivering excellent services with a focus on
customer service and efficiency. The City proposes to allocate available funding for FY2013 to meet these priorities as follows:
Projected Revenue Available from FY2012 New Funding Total $ Available
CDBG $10,000 $639,398 $649,398
Program Income $ 17,000 $ 17,000
