The 2013 Annual Water Quality Report of the Murfreesboro Water and Sewer Department is being mailed to all water customers. All customers should receive their copy prior to July 1, 2014. Customers may view the report on the City’s website at www.murfreesborotn.gov under Water & Sewer Department. REROOFING OF HOBGOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MURFREESBORO CITY SCHOOLS
Sealed Proposals for reroofing of Hobgood Elementary School, Murfreesboro City Schools, will be received by the Owner at the Murfreesboro City Schools Administration Offices, 2552 South Church Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 2:00 P.M., Local Time. Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud.
Plans and other contract documents shall be obtained by Bidders from the office of Johnson+Bailey Architects P.C., 100 East Vine Street, Suite 700, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. A deposit check for Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00), made payable to Johnson+Bailey Architects, will be required for two (2) sets of plans and specifications. Checks will be refunded to all Bidders who return plans and specifications in good condition within ten (10) days after Proposals are opened, with the exception of the deposit from the Bidder to whom the Contract is awarded. The low Bidder to whom the contract is awarded will be provided with twelve (12) complete sets of plans and specifications in consideration for the deposit paid. Bidders are required to sumbit the plans deposit, obtain contract documents, and register as a bidder with the Architect. Bids from Contractors not registered with the Architect as a plans holder will not be opened.
A Pre-Bid Conference will be conducted at Hobgood Elementary School, 307 South Baird Lane, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 3:30 P.M., Local Time. Attendance at the Pre-Bid Conference is highly recommended, but is not a requirement for bid submittal.
Individual drawings, specification sections, and/or complete sets of plans and specifications and other bid documents may be obtained by Material Suppliers, Subcontractors, and General Contractors from a printing company designated by the Architect. Bidders shall be licensed General Contractors as required by applicable laws of the State of Tennessee.
Each Proposal shall be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid. The bond is required as a guarantee that, if the bid is accepted, a contract will be entered into.
A performance bond and a labor and material payment bond in the amount of 100% of contract sum, issued by a bonding company licensed in the State of Tennessee and acceptable to Owner, will be required of successful bidder to guarantee faithful performance of work under the contract (see Supplement to General Conditions of the Contract).
In the event Bidder to whom the contract is awarded fails to execute a satisfactory contract and bond, he shall be eliminated and shall forfeit his bid bond, and shall be liable for any loss occasioned to the Owner because of such failure.

MAPLE STREET ALLEY RECONSTRUCTION
Sealed proposals will be received by the City Manager at the City Manager’s office, 111 West Vine Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, until 10:00 a.m., May 27, 2014, for Maple Street Alley Reconstruction for the City of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The bids will be opened and read at the City Hall Council Chambers immediately thereafter.
This work consists of constructing approximately 320 linear feet of eight foot wide permeable concrete paver system, road and drainage excavation, concrete paving, electric conduit and work incidental thereto.
Plans, Specifications and Contract Documents may be examined at Murfreesboro Planning &Engineering Department, Murfreesboro; F.W. Dodge Plan Room, Nashville; or may be obtained from Huddleston-Steele Engineering, Inc. 2115 Northwest Broad Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, upon deposit of Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars which will be refunded to all except the successful bidder upon return of all documents in good condition within thirty (30) days after date of opening bids.
A pre-bid conference will be held at 10:00 A.M. on May 20, 2014 at Council Chambers, 111 West Vine Street, Murfreesboro, TN. Representatives of OWNER and ENGINEER shall be present to discuss the Project.
To demonstrate Bidder’s qualifications to perform the Work, Bidder shall submit written information on present commitments and on experience. Regarding the experience, submit listings of at least three (3) similar projects constructed by the Bidder in the last five (5) years. The list should include a project name, project owner, and project owner’s contact and shall be submitted with bid package.
Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond for not less than five (5) percent of the contract price to guarantee that the bidder will enter into an acceptable contract under bond. A contract performance-payment bond of One Hundred (100) Percent of the Contract price will be required.
No bidder may withdraw a bid for a period of sixty (60) days after bids have been opened.
Payment will be made on the 15th day of each month on the basis on ninety-five (95) percent of the work completed for the preceeding month.
The right is reserved to reject any and all bids and to waive technicalities.
Bidding shall be in accordance with the Tennessee General Contractor’s License Law. Bidders on construction of the amount of Twenty-five Thousand ($25,000.00) Dollars or more must be licensed contractors as required by T.C.A. 62-6-103. Bidders shall place their bid in an envelope showing the bidder’s name, license number, expiration date, and that part of classification applying to the bid in accordance with T.C.A. 62-6-119. Bids not conforming with this provision shall not be opened.
Bidders are required to submit an affidavit at the bid submission that the contractor has a drug-free workplace that complies with T.C.A. Title 50, Chapter 9. Bidders are also requested to submit at the bid a Noncollusion Affidavit or Prime Bidder.
