Full-grown women who are not afraid of full-throated rock and roll will have a chance to show it at the inaugural Ladies Rock Camp (LRC) of Middle Tennessee from Friday, Sept. 12 through Sunday, Sept. 14 at Cedars of Lebanon State Park, 328 Cedar Forest Rd. in Lebanon.

Presented by the Murfreesboro-based Southern Girls Rock & Roll Camp (www.sgrrc.org) and Artsy Mamas (www.artsymamas.org), the weekend retreat for women over the age of 18 will help raise funds to support the SGRRC and is intended to help unite women through music.

Attendees will form bands and rehearse while collaborating with like-minded ladies. The camp will offer instruction in guitar, drums, bass, keyboard and vocals, as well as workshops in Sound 101, Songwriting, Music Herstory and DIY Arts and Crafts.

The purpose of LRC is to encourage women to express themselves, learn new skills and develop a supportive network for their creative endeavors. The program offers the opportunity to form a band, rehearse and perform at a showcase at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, which will be open to family and friends.

Tuition is $150 to $250 on a sliding scale for this overnight camp with meals included. Register now to secure a position.
